Pin stripes are one of my favourite patterns. To me they are sophisticated, clean and flattering. When wearing pin stripes, I wear them vertically, giving the illusion I look taller. Of course there are exceptions to every rule.
This dress is mostly vertical stripes, but it has horizontal striped pockets to add dimension. I have a mostly hourglass shape but my hips are wider than my shoulders. Because of this, minimal horizontal stripes on my upper body can look flattering as it can give the appearance my shoulders are broader. I tend to avoid horizontal stripes around my waist as they make me look square.
While yes, I have long legs – thank you good jeans– Pin stripe pants are a tough one. I don’t like looking leggy. I pair my pin stripe pants with a blouse that gives me a longer torso. Or I will leave my blouse untucked to give the illusion of a longer torso.
